The Shelton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the following incidents between Dec. 17 and Dec. 23, as submitted by the fire marshal’s office:
Monday, Dec. 17
At 7:29 a.m., the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to Cumberland Farms Food Store, 819 Long Hill Ave., for a public service call; lock out. An engine responded.

At 6:51 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to the area of 938 Howe Ave. for a motor vehicle accident. A rescue pumper responded.

At 8:15 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to route 8 southbound at exit 12 for a motor vehicle accident. A engine and two rescue pumpers responded.
Tuesday, Dec. 18
At 8:55 a.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to Nells Rock Road for a motor vehicle accident. A rescue pumper responded.

At 9:46 a.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to 500 Howe Ave. for an odor of natural gas in the building. A rescue pumper responded.

At 10:22 a.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded again back to 500 Howe Ave. for an odor of natural gas in the building. No odor or leak was found by firefighters. A rescue pumper responded.

At 11:25 a.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to 199 Kyles Way for an odor of natural gas in the building. A engine and a rescue pumper responded.

At 11:59 a.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to Cranston Avenue for a low hanging wire across the road. A unit responded.

At 4:50 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the area of Citgo at 442 River Road for a motor vehicle accident. A unit responded.

At 5:51 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to 30 Rosedale Circle for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

At 6:22 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to the Super Saver Spirit Store, 864 Bridgeport Ave., for a report of a fire in the building. The fire was out upon arrival of fire units. Firefighters entered and found a smoke condition in the store caused by a light fixture in a storage area. Two engines, a ladder truck and a rescue truck responded. Mutual aid was received by Stratford, Nichols and Derby Fire Departments.

At 6:45 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to the area of 275 Bridgeport Ave. for a motor vehicle accident. Two engines responded.
Wednesday, Dec. 19
At 10:29 a.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to BTX Corp., 12 Commerce Dr., for a fire in the roof of the building. Upon arrival firefighters observed smoke coming from the roof at the front of the building. Firefighters had to remove part of the from siding to get to the fire and extinguish the fire behind it. The fire and firefighter operations caused minor damage to the building. All employees were evacuated safely before fire units arrived. There were no injuries reported. Two engines, a ladder truck, a rescue truck and a tower truck responded.

At 2:07 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to 49 Shelton Ave. for an odor of natural gas in the home. A rescue pumper responded.

At 6:22 p.m., the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to Murphy’s Lane at River Road for a motor vehicle accident. An engine responded.
Thursday, Dec. 20
At 12:06 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, 780 Bridgeport Ave., for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine and a rescue pumper responded.

At 4:30 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to route 8 southbound at exit 12 for a motor vehicle accident. A engine and two rescue pumpers responded.

At 7:14 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a report of a furnace fire in a home at 201 Booth Hill Road. No further information was reported. An engine and a rescue pumper responded.

At 8:02 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Mark Apartments, 7 Acadia Lane, for an odor of natural gas in building #6. An engine and a rescue pumper responded.
Friday, Dec. 21
At 3:53 a.m., the White Hills Co. #5 responded to the area of 130 Beardsley Road for a motor vehicle accident. An engine responded.

At 4:48 a.m., Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to 255 River Road for a report of a fire outside the home. Firefighters arrived and found a fire had occurred in a garbage bin that was placed against the house. Ashes from a fireplace placed in the bin earlier in the day had ignited contents inside the bin. The fire caused minor damage to the side of the home. An engine responded.

At 11:46 a.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to 11 Lane St. for a public service call; pump out. A utility truck responded.

At 2:17 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to the Nichols Fire Department to standby while Nichols FD was at an incident. An engine responded.

At 5:02 p.m., the White Hills Co. #5 responded to 4 Maple Ave. for a public service call; pump out. A utility truck responded.
Saturday, Dec. 22
At 12:09 a.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to 110 Blueberry Lane for smoke in the home. There was no fire. Steam from a boiler malfunction was the cause. Two engines, a ladder truck and a tower truck responded.

At 2:03 a.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to 159 Center St. for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. A tower truck and a ladder truck responded.

At 9:01 a.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to 10 Greenwood Lane for a public service call; pump out. A utility truck responded.

At 4:15 p.m., the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to 58 Ballaro Dr. for a public service call; pump out. A utility truck responded.
Sunday, Dec. 23
At 9:06 a.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to 37 Fairfield Ave. for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

At 4:19 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to Nells Rock Road near Sunwood Drive for a motor vehicle accident. An engine and a rescue pumper responded.
