Shelton Gaels knock off Hand Tigers, 33-20
The Shelton High football team ran its record to 7-0 on the season with a 33-20 SCC victory over Daniel Hand at the Surf Club in Madison on Friday.
Coach Jeff Roy's Gaels scored 26 points in the final period to overcome a 14-7 deficit entering the frame.
The Tigers (2-5) answered a 1-yard run by Mark Piccirillo, and a Joe Zoppi PAT, with two scores of their own in the first quarter.
The Gaels were held scoreless until Piccirillo threw scoring passes to Kevin Robinson from 3 and 55 yards away to lead 19-14.
Hand went back in front 20-19, before Alex Kirk broke off a 68-yard scoring run and Piccirillo added the insurance tally from 47 yards out.
Piccirillo, who rushed for 217 yards, added a two-point conversion run after Kirk’s touchdown.
