Shelton Libraries celebrate “Take Your Child To the Library Day”

SHELTON - Children put their secret agent skills to the test at Shelton’s libraries earlier this month.

The Children’s Department at the Plumb Memorial Library and the Huntington Branch recently had a day-long event in which children were invited to join “Spy Training Operations” as part of the “Take Your Child to the Library” on Feb. 5.

In its ninth year, “Take Your Child to the Library Day” is a special Saturday set aside to celebrate libraries, children and literacy, according to Plumb Memorial Library Director Joan Stokes.

“The staff at both Shelton libraries had a variety of spy events this year including scavenger hunts, code name generators, and agent sign in badge and code stations for their young agents in training,” Stokes said.

Plumb Memorial Library is open on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 to 4, Tuesdays from noon to 7 and Saturday from 10 to 3. The Huntington Branch is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 to 4, Thursdays from noon to 7 and Saturdays from 10 to 3.
