Shelton Realtor named to hall of fame
Susan Coyle, co-owner and broker at Real Estate Two in Shelton, has been named to the 2012 Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut's "Dr. George R. Dunbar Free Enterprise Hall of Fame." Coyle, along with three other honorees, will receive their awards at a special dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. at the Bridgeport Holiday Inn.
Coyle has been in the real estate business nearly 40 years. She created Real Estate Two in 1985 in partnership with Linda Schauwecker and the two friends have been together in business ever since.
Currently serving as 2012 president of the Greater Bridgeport Board of Realtors, Coyle is also a member of the Connecticut and National Associations of Realtors and is a director at Shelton Economic Development Corporation, and Valley Community Foundation. She also serves as secretary of the Greater Fairfield County Multiple Listing Service and as corporator of Griffin Hospital and the Valley United Way.
Coyle's support for cancer awareness and research organizations has led her to co-chair the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life for nine years, as well as Griffin Hospital's Breast Wellness Center campaign and the Valley Goes Pink campaign.
Her volunteer efforts and business success have earned her numerous honors, including Women Making A Difference in the Valley 2011, Women's Counsel of Realtors' Women Realtor of the Year, American Cancer Society Volunteer of the Year, Clear Channel News' Extraordinary Women, and the Valley Chamber of Commerce's Silver Seal and Leadership in Health awards.
In addition to her many volunteer activities; Coyle said her true joy is being involved in the lives of her eight grandchildren.
The JA Hall of Fame Awards, inaugurated in 1977, are presented biennially to four to six outstanding business professionals from the greater Bridgeport, greater Danbury or lower Naugatuck Valley areas who have made notable and enduring contributions to private enterprise, and who are exceptionally dedicated and committed to their communities.
