SHELTON — The city will be holding its spring leaf collection next month.

Leaves will be picked up curbside April 26 thru 30.

Leaves must be placed in paper bags and should be left curbside on the residents’ regular trash collection day. Residents are asked to keep their leaf bags apart from the regular trash. Leaves will be collected in brown paper biodegradable bags only.

Bags containing anything other than leaves — such as sticks, grass clippings or dirt — will not be accepted.

The city compost site on Willoughby Road next to Elizabeth Shelton School will be open that same week, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and May 1 from 7 a.m. to noon.

Residents bringing leaves to the compost site in containers other than biodegradable paper bags must remove non-conforming containers from the site.

All brush must be brought to the Transfer Station, 866 River Road, Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

No contractors are allowed.
