SHELTON — Kim and John DiMatteo of Bethany spent years instilling into their three children, Anthony, Jessica, and Michael, the importance of giving back to the surrounding community.

The couple felt strongly that domestic violence and the state of homelessness were important topics on which to focus.

More than two decades later, the DiMatteo family puts those teachings into practice, organizing an Easter Basket drive for children in four homeless shelters — Domestic Violence Crisis Center of Norwalk, Norwalk Emergency Shelter, Domestic Violence Crisis Center of Stamford, and Inspirica, Inc., of Stamford.

For the second year in a row, Jessica DiMatteo of Bethany, a financial assistant at Shelton-based DiMatteo Group Financial Services, has spearheaded this drive.

As a third-generation family member, she started a new donation process last year.

“In order to make it easier for more people in the community to participate, we are asking donors to order pre-selected items from an Amazon list,” said Jessica DiMatteo.

The most needed items, she said, are toothbrushes, toothpaste, sanitary pads, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion, combs, and brushes.

To donate, people are asked to visit www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/269E4ZYL6P9VF?ref_=wl_share. Once navigated to the link, simply add the items that you would like to donate to your cart, and checkout.

All orders should be shipped directly to DiMatteo Group Financial Services, 79 Bridgeport Ave., Unit 1, Shelton, CT 06484.

All donated items need to be collected by April 4, as they will be delivering the Easter Baskets on April 7. For more information, contact Jessica DiMatteo at (203) 535-9683 or jldimatteo@dimatteofinancial.com or visit www.DiMatteoFinancial.com.

DiMatteo Group Financial Services is organizing this year’s Easter Basket drive. John DiMatteo is CEO of DiMatteo Group Financial Services, while his wife Kim, founder of this community project, now works as the Senior Vice President of Cross Insurance in Shelton.
