Shelton fire crews extricate trapped driver in Route 8 crash

SHELTON — One person was extricated a vehicle involved in a crash on Route 8 Thursday.

Shelton fire officials said the accident occurred about 2:27 p.m. on Route 8 northbound between exits 11 and 12. When firefighters arrived, officials stated that the sole occupant was trapped inside the vehicle.

Crews from Engine 2 quickly went to work with the cutters and spreaders to remove the door of the vehicle, fire officials stated. After approximately five minutes, the door was removed, and crews assisted Echo Hose EMS with removing the patient.

EMS transported the patient to a local hospital for evaluation.

Engine 2 and Rescue 30 operated under the command of Deputy Chief Paul Wilson.
