Shelton fire log: Crews respond to accidents, brush fires

The Shelton Fire Department responded to the following calls this past week.

Monday, March 15

At 12:31 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Co. No. 4 responded with an engine and a ladder truck to an Ivy Brook Road address for an odor in the building.

At 4:37 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. No. 1 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine and a brush truck to a mutual aid call to assist the Derby Fire Department at a large brush fire on Roosevelt Drive (Route 34).

At 5:25 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. No. 1 responded with an engine to a mutual aid call at a Chatfield Street address in Derby for a brush fire.

Tuesday, March 16

At 9:07 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3, Echo Hose Co. No. 1 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with two engines to a fire alarm activated at the Lex Products, 15 Progress Drive. There was no fire.

Wednesday, March 17

At 6:35 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. No. 1 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine to a fire alarm activated at a Birch Street address. There was no fire.

Thursday, March 18

At 12:11 a.m., the White Hills Co. No. 5, Huntington Co. No. 3 and the Echo Hose Co. No. 1 responded with an engine and a ladder truck to a report of a structure fire in the area of the 400 block of Leavenworth Road. Firefighters responded and found the fire was just over the town line on Barn Hill Road in Monroe.

At 10:45 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine and a ladder truck to a mutual aid call to assist the Trumbull Fire Department at a structure fire.

At 6:44 p.m., the White Hills Co. No. 5 and the Huntington Co. No. 1 responded with an engine to a Shelter Rock Drive address for an activated fire alarm. There was no fire.

Friday, March 19

At 4:16 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. No. 1 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with two engines to a smoke investigation outside at a Howe Avenue address. Open burning was the cause of the smoke.

At 9:39 p.m., the White Hills Co. No. 5, Echo Hose Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Co. No. 4 responded with two engines and a ladder truck to a Birchbank Road address for a chimney fire.

At 9:58 p.m., the Echo Hose Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Co. No. 4 responded with an engine to a motor vehicle accident on Howe Avenue at Myrtle Street.

At 10:13 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the Echo Hose Co. No. 1 responded with an engine to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 northbound between exits 13 and 14.

Saturday, March 20

At 10:28 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3, Echo Hose Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Co. No. 4 responded an engine, a ladder truck and a utility truck to 100 Beard Saw Mill Road for an odor investigation inside the building. Smoke from cooking caused the call.

Sunday, March 21

At 6:32 p.m., the Pine Rock Co. No. 4 responded with an engine to a small fuel spill in the parking lot of the Sports Center, 784 River Road.
