Shelton fire log: Crews respond to back-to-back fires on Thanksgiving

The Shelton Fire Department responded to the following calls this past week.

Monday, Nov. 22

At 8:48 a.m., the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with a rescue truck to the Apple Tree Day Care, 117 Long Hill Cross Road, for an odor in the building. Firefighters found no odor.

At 2:22 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3, Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with a rescue truck to the Marriott Residence Inn, 1001 Bridgeport Ave. There was no fire.

At 2:24 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine to a motor vehicle accident in the area of Traps Falls Road and Huntington Street.

At 7:04 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 northbound between exits 12 and 13.

At 8:03 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with two engines to a Coral Drive address for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire.

At 2:24 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine to a motor vehicle accident on Isinglass Road.

At 8:58 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with a unit to Kneen Street for an unknown alarm sounding.

Tuesday, Nov. 23

At 10:16 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 northbound between exits 12 and 13.

At 11:36 a.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine and a ladder truck to the Birmingham Condos, 145 Canal St., for an odor of natural gas in the building.

At 4:31 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine to a motor vehicle accident in the area of Waverly Road and Adams Drive.

At 5:03 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine and a ladder truck to a North Street address for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire.

At 6:43 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with a rescue truck to a Highland Avenue address for a carbon monoxide alarm sounding.

At 9 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with a rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on Bridgeport Avenue at the Route 8 southbound exit ramp.

Wednesday, Nov. 24

At 8:59 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3, Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with an engine, a rescue truck and a ladder truck to a fire in the kitchen at the Chipotle Restaurant, 701 Bridgeport Ave. Upon arrival firefighters found a small gas leak from a kitchen stove supply pipe had leaked and ignited a small fire behind the stove. The fire was extinguished quickly and resulted in minor damage.

At 10:17 a.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with two engines to a Cranston Avenue address for an electrical problem with an outlet.

At 11:37 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine to a motor vehicle accident on James Farm Road.

At 2:51 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine and a ladder truck to a fire alarm activated at a Deer Run address in the Aspetuck Condos off Shelton Avenue. There was no fire.

At 4:58 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Huntington Co. No. 3 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 southbound between exits 13 and 12.

Thursday, Nov. 25

At 3:15 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3, White Hills Co. No. 5 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with two engines and a rescue truck to a shed on fire in the rear of an Overlook Place address. Upon arrival firefighters extinguished a fire in a large shed. The Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 covered the city during the fire.

At 3:58 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 5, White Hills Co. No. 5 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with two engines and a ladder truck to a chimney fire at a Meadowlark Drive address.

At 5:14 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with two engines to a River Road address in the Shelton Cove Condos for fire alarm activation.

At 6:19 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine to a fire alarm activated at the 502 on Howe Apartment Complex, 502 Howe Ave. There was no fire.

At 10:40 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 northbound between exits 12 and 13.

Friday, Nov. 26

At 1:55 pm the Pine Rock Park Co. #4 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 responded with an engine and a ladder truck to a fire alarm sounding at Garner Heights Hospital at #172 Rocky Rest Road. There was no fire.

At 4:41 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with two engines to the Helen DeVaux Housing Complex, 91 Howe Ave., for fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm.

Saturday, Nov. 27

At 1:52 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to the Spooner House, 30 Todd Road, for fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm.

At 6:18 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 northbound between exits 12 and 13.

Sunday, Nov. 28

At 12:02 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine and a ladder truck to a fire alarm activated at the Hilton Garden Inn, 25 Old Stratford Road. There was no fire.

At 11:52 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 responded with an engine to a public service call at a Copper Penny Lane address.

At 3:53 p.m., the White Hills Co. No. 5 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine to a fire alarm activation at a Red Fern Ridge address. There was no fire.

Monday, Nov. 29

At 6:32 a.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with a unit to the Hewitt Hospital, 45 Maltby St., for fire alarm activation. There was no fire.
