Shelton fire log: Crews respond to fire at Sikorsky plant, accidents, alarms

The Shelton Fire Department responded to the following calls this past week.

Monday, June 6

At 12:24 a.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine to a fire alarm activated at the Sinsabaugh Heights Housing Complex, 187 Meadow St. There was no fire.

At 12:18 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1, Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 and the Huntington Co. No. 3 responded with three engines and a ladder truck to the Sikorsky Plant III, 33 Platt Road, for a fire in a machine. The fire was out upon arrival but caused a smoke condition in the building which fire personnel ventilated.

At 1:29 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with a unit to the Win Supply Company, 14 Forest Parkway, for a person stuck in an elevator.

Tuesday, June 7

At 12:32 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine to a small anti-freeze spill on Deer Run Lane.

At 2:51 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to a Snowberry Lane address for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire.

At 4:27 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with two engines to a small brush fire at a building on the 700 block of Bridgeport Avenue.

Friday, June 10

At 12:13 a.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine to a motor vehicle accident on Howe Avenue near Wheeler Street.

At 11:44 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 responded with an engine to a Soundview Avenue address to assist EMS.

At 7:14 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with a unit to a motor vehicle accident on Huntington Street near Lane Street.

At 2:14 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with an engine and a ladder truck to a fire alarm activated at the Helen DeVaux Housing Complex, 91 Howe Ave. There was no fire.

At 3:52 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine to an Applewood Drive address for a dire alarm activation. There was no fire.

At 10:13 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Huntington Co. No. 3 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 southbound near Exit 14.

Saturday, June 11

At 1:23 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 responded with an engine to a motor vehicle accident on Huntington Street near Blueberry Lane.

At 1:25 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 responded with an engine to an open burning on Suburban Drive.

At 3:27 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on South Constitution Boulevard.

At 6:15 p.m., the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine to a Meadow Street address for a carbon monoxide alarm activation.

At 8:38 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with an engine to a Nettleton Court address for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire.

Sunday, June 12

At 8:26 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 responded with an engine to a public service call at a Squire Lane address.

At 2:28 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on River Road near Sunnyside Drive.

At 2:34 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine and two rescue trucks to a motor vehicle accident around the 900 block of Howe Avenue.
