Shelton fire log: Crews respond to odor of gas at Booth Hill School, accidents, alarms

The Shelton Fire Department responded to the following calls this past week.

Monday, Nov. 8

At 9:16 a.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with an engine to a Wakelee Avenue Extension address for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm.

At 2:44 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3, Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine and a ladder truck to a report of smoke in the house at a Pine Street address. There was no fire. A closed wood stove damper caused the smoke.

At 5:45 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on Bridgeport Avenue.

At 6:32 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on River Road at Long Hill Avenue.

At 7:35 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine to a fire alarm sounding at a Winthrop Drive address. Dust from cleaning caused the alarm. There was no fire.

At 8:30 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with an engine to a River Road for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm.

Tuesday, Nov. 9

At 7:14 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine to a fire alarm sounding at a Mohegan Road address. There was no fire.

At 10:13 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3, Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine to an odor of gas in Booth Hill School, 544 Booth Hill Road.

At 1:23 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 responded with an engine to the area of Waverly Road and Matilda Lane for open burning.

At 6:26 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on Shelton Avenue near Pine Street.

Wednesday, Nov. 10

At 10:32 a.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with an engine to the Helen DeVaux Housing Complex, 91 Howe Ave., for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm.

At 11:34 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with two engines to a brush fire on Bridgeport Avenue in the area of the Route 8 southbound Exit 11 off ramp.

Thursday, Nov. 11

At 6:37 a.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to a fire alarm activation at the Sinsabaugh Heights Housing Complex, 187 Meadow St. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm.

At 1:21 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine and a ladder truck to a fire alarm activation at the Sinsabaugh Heights Housing Complex, 187 Meadow St. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm.

At 6:18 a.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with a marine unit to the Housatonic River for a public service call to retrieve an abandoned boat that was accidentally released from shore.

Friday, Nov. 12

At 2:07 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine to a fire alarm sounding at a Blueberry Lane address. There was no fire.

At 1:16 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Huntington Co. No. 3 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 southbound near Exit 13.

At 8:56 p.m., the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine to a fire alarm activated at the Crosby Commons, 580 Long Hill Ave. There was no fire.

At 11:04 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with two engines to a fire alarm activated at the Mark Apartments, 7 Acadia Lane.

Saturday, Nov. 13

At 10:19 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine to a carbon monoxide alarm activated at the St. Vincent’s Medical Center, 15 Armstrong Road.

At 10:23 a.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine to a Soundview Avenue address to assist EMS.

At 10:41 a.m., the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine to a fire alarm activated at the Crosby Commons, 580 Long Hill Ave. There was no fire.

At 2:10 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Pine Rock Park Co. No. 4 responded with an engine to a Country Place address for an odor investigation.

At 3:53 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine to an electrical hazard on a utility pole on Providence Avenue.

At 6:22 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with two engines and a rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident on Shelton Avenue near Aspetuck Lane.

At 8:07 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine and a ladder truck to a fire alarm activation at the Plumb Memorial Library, 62 Wooster St. There was no fire.

At 9:43 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded to a motor vehicle accident in the area of the 100 block of Nichols Avenue.

At 9:50 p.m., the Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 responded with an engine to assist EMS on the 700 block of Howe Avenue.

Sunday, Nov. 14

At 12:29 p.m., the Huntington Co. No. 3 and the White Hills Co. No. 5 responded with an engine and a rescue truck to a motor vehicle accident in the 500 block of Huntington Street.

Monday, Nov. 15

At 1:19 a.m., the White Hills Co. No. 5, Echo Hose H & L Co. No. 1 and the Huntington Co. No. 3 responded with two engines, a rescue truck and a ladder truck to a report of a structure fire at a Nicholdale Road address. There was no fire.
