SHELTON - No one was injured Friday as firefighters battled a structure fire and extreme heat at a Brewster Street home.

Fire crews responded to the report of a structure fire about 3 p.m., according to Deputy Fire Chief Paul Wilson.

"As crews entered, a moderate smoke condition was found throughout the building,” Wilson said. “Crews quickly located the location of the fire and used an 1 ¾-inch fire hose to suppress the fire.

With high temperatures, he added, an engine from the Derby Fire Department responded along with Rehab 48 to provide water and refreshments.

“Crews were able to open up walls and ceilings to locate any hidden fire. Once it was confirmed that all visible fire was extinguished, crews began to pack up,” Wilson said.

The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
