Shelton firefighters free occupant from car after crash

Shelton firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free an occupant from a vehicle that crashed into a telephone pole on Tuesday night.

At about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, Shelton Fire Company No. 1 (Echo Hose) and Company No. 3 (Huntington) were dispatched to the area of Shelton Avenue at Willoughby Road for a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries.

Upon arrival, Engine 2 members found a single motor vehicle had crashed into a telephone pole, with the operator trapped inside.

The crew of Engine 2 was able to quickly stabilize the vehicle and used the Jaws of Life to free the trapped occupant, according to the Echo Hose Fire website.

Willoughby Road is between downtown and Huntington Center, intersecting with Route 108 (Shelton Road) west of Constitution Boulevard North (Shelton Intermediate School).
