Shelton joins new regional government entity
The city of Shelton is a member of the newly formed Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments, which also serves as the regional planning organization.
It includes 19 towns and stretches from Shelton and Derby in the south to Bethlehem and Bristol in the north. Mayor Mark Lauretti has been elected vice chairman of its Executive Committee.
A state law led to the merger of these groups and the formation of new ones. They focus on regional issues such as transportation and bulk purchasing.
