Shelton legislators, Senior Center host health fair
State Sen. Kevin C. Kelly and state Reps. Larry Miller and Jason Perillo hosted a June 19 health and wellness fair for seniors in partnership with the Shelton Senior Center.
State and local organizations and volunteers provided attendees with health screenings and information about programs available to seniors related to health, wellness, legal issues, financial services and more.
“We must maintain healthcare quality and access for our seniors, and this event helps them connect with essential services that allow seniors to remain independent and in their homes,” said Kelly, thanking the many vendors for participating in the fair.
'Experts in every field'
Miller said the health and wellness fair will help bring attention to the excellent resources available for local seniors.
“Seniors today have many concerns from health care to finances, and we had on hand experts in every field to answer questions and offer assistance in all of them,” Miller said.
Perillo said it’s important to ensure seniors are aware of the myriad of services open to them.
“Right here in Shelton we have so many great organizations, volunteers and caregivers who are essential to improving the quality of life for our seniors, and this event was a great way to introduce many of them for the first time,” Perillo said.
Kelly, Miller and Perillo are Republicans who all represent Shelton.
