On the Republican side, there are primary contests for the U.S. Senate and Congressional seats and secretary of the state. For Democrats, there are primaries for secretary of the state and treasurer. The primary is Aug. 9, with polling locations open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on that day.
The city’s polling locations are Elizabeth Shelton School, 138 Willoughby Road (District 1); Shelton Intermediate School, 675 Constitution Blvd. North (District 2); Long Hill School, 565 Long Hill Ave. (District 3); and Mohegan School, 47 Mohegan Road (District 4).
Absentee ballots will be counted at the Registrars of Voters office in the Richard O. Belden Cultural Center, 54 Grove St.
On the Republican ballot, former state Rep. Themis Klarides, Leora Levy and Peter Lumaj are vying to represent the GOP in the U.S. Senate race against incumbent Democrat Richard Blumenthal.
Former Darien First Selectwoman Jayme Stevenson and Michael Ted Goldstein are vying for the Republican spot against U.S. Congressman Jim Himes, the incumbent representing the state’s 4th District.
Dominic Rapini, Brock Weber and Terrie E. Wood are running to represent the GOP in the race for secretary of the state.
On the Democrats side, Stephanie Thomas and Maritza Bond are seeking to represent the party in the secretary of the state race, and Erick Russell, Dita Bhargava and Karen DuBois-Walton are vying for the Democrat spot for treasurer on the November ballot.
