SHELTON - The city will hold its final fall curbside leaf collection beginning Nov. 29 through Dec. 3.

Leaves must be placed in brown paper biodegradable bags. Bagged leaves should be placed at the curbside on your regular trash collection day. People are asked to keep leaf bags apart from their regular trash.

Bags should only contain leaves and not grass clippings, sticks and rocks. Bags containing these items will not be accepted and will be left at curb.

In the event of a snowstorm, leaf bags should be left out at the curbside. They will be collected as soon as possible.

During the fall, the compost site on Willoughby Road, next to Elizabeth Shelton School, will be open starting Oct. 25 through Dec. 4, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays, 7 a.m. to noon. The site will be closed Nov. 11 and Nov. 25.

Anyone bringing leaves to the compost site in containers other than biodegradable paper bags must remove non-conforming container from the site. People are asked not to leave bags outside of the gate.
