SHELTON — With more than a foot of snow anticipated overnight, city schools will be closed Thursday.

Interim Superintendent Beth Smith has informed families and staff about the decision to have a traditional snow day on Thursday. While all students are on remote learning, there will be no instruction on Thursday.

"This storm is expected to bring significant snowfall and has the potential for damaging winds,” Smith said. “In an effort to keep everyone safe, we will have a traditional snow day (Thursday). There will be no distance learning.”

Smith said the day will be added to the end of the school year.

In preparation for this snow day, Smith said Whitsons will provide breakfast and lunch for Wednesday and Thursday during Wednesday’s food distribution.

“Shovel, drink hot chocolate, enjoy this snowstorm and most of all be safe,” Smith added.
