SHELTON — The city Department of Public Works, in coordination with an outside contractor, will begin the milling, and shortly thereafter, the paving of roads this week.

Work will be done on Soundview Avenue from Willoughby Road to Route 108 at Huntington Center; Maple Avenue from Meadow Street to Soundview Avenue; and sections of Huntington Street between the Huntington Fire House and Commerce Drive.

“We realize this coincides with the beginning of school, but scheduling conflicts left us with no choice,” said Brian Roach, Shelton superintendent of public works.

One lane of traffic will be open at all times as work progresses, he said.

“We ask that you heed the directions of the traffic personnel and do appreciate your patience during this project,” Roach added.

City officials expect the work to take two to three weeks to complete, weather permitting.
