SHELTON — The city has announced that leaves will be picked up curbside later next month.

The pickup will run the week of April 25 to 29. Residents are asked to place the leaves in paper bags. The bags should be placed curbside on each individual’s regular trash collection day. Residents are also asked to keep the leaf bags apart from regular trash.

Leaves will be collected in brown paper biodegradable bags only. Bags containing anything other than leaves will not be accepted.

Also, the compost site (for leaves only) on Willoughby Road next to Elizabeth Shelton School will be open that same week, Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on April 30 from 7 a.m. to noon.

Residents bringing leaves to the compost site in containers other than biodegradable paper bags must empty and remove non-conforming containers from the site.

All brush must be brought to the Transfer Station, 866 River Road, which is open Mondays to Saturdays, 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
