Shelton tree is picked as Rockefeller Center Christmas tree

A tree crew is working today on a Norway spruce tree in a Shelton yard that has been selected as this year’s Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in New York City.

The tree is on Kazo Drive, a road off Isinglass Road in the Huntington section of Shelton.

According to Wikipedia, the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree also came from Shelton in 2007. It came from Easton in 2009.

Neighbors and others are dropping by to get a look at the tree, which is expected to be moved on a special truck to New York City next week. Many are taking photographs.

“It’s pretty cool,” said Patty Lobdell of Shelton, one of the people getting a look at the tree from the street.

Lobdell, who lives about a mile away and drives on Kazo Drive about once a week, said she “had never really noticed the tree. But it’s beautiful. It will be neat to watch the process.”

A Shelton police officer has been assigned to the location.
