Showers are nearing Shelton, lots of rain is expected

A line of strong storms is nearing Shelton, moving into Connecticut from New York state.

Some of the initial storms could go north of Shelton, impacting northwestern Connecticut at first, but eventually they should drop large amounts of rain in Shelton.

Tonight, severe storms and thunderstorms are expected in Shelton, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). They should bring high winds as well as lots of rain.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for southern Connecticut through early Wednesday, with more precipitation expected Tuesday.

The heaviest rain now is expected Tuesday night, with an overall amount of up to 3 inches possible during the next 36 hours or so in Shelton, the NWS said.
