State Sen. Kelly serves on Gun Violence Prevention Task Force
State Sen. Kevin C. Kelly is serving as a member of the bipartisan legislative task force, formed in the wake of the Newtown school shooting, that is looking into gun violence, school security and mental health services.
“In the wake of such an unimaginable tragedy,” Kelly said, “we must come together to resolve the challenges facing our state today and help those who suffer from mental illness to receive proper assistance.”
Kelly, a Republican whose multi-town district includes Shelton, was appointed to serve on the mental health working group of the Gun Violence Prevention and Children’s Safety Task Force. The other working groups focus on gun violence prevention and school security. Kelly is an attorney.
The task force has held public hearings at the state Capitol and in Newtown.
