Stormy weather could bring flooding to Shelton

The National Weather Service is warning of the potential for flooding in Shelton and the surrounding area over the next two days.

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for southern Connecticut, northern New Jersey, and southeastern New York state. Rain is expected to start later this evening (Tuesday), becoming heavy as the night goes on. Heavy rain is expected to continue through Wednesday, possibly mixing with some snow Wednesday night, making for hazardous travel conditions at the beginning of the holiday weekend.

Warm Wednesday but cold at night

The weather service predicts temperatures will hover in the upper 30s today and tonight, but will get much warmer tomorrow, perhaps reaching 60 degrees. There is the potential for snow and freezing rain Wednesday night, however, as temperatures once again are likely to drop below freezing.

The forecast for Thanksgiving in Shelton is breezy but clear with a high of about 32. Friday and Saturday look to be sunny and clear, but chilly, with temperatures remaining in the low 30s.
