‘The Great Give’ is on; Shelton nonprofits to benefit

Shelton nonprofit entities are participating in The Great Give on Oct. 2 and 3, an online event that will match contributions made to the nonprofits.

The 36-hour event is organized by the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and the Valley Community Foundation. The charity drive lasts from Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 8 a.m. to Thursday, Oct. 3 at 8 p.m.

To be eligible, contributions must be for at least $25 and made by credit card online. All donations are 100% tax deductible.

How it works

Donors who live or work in the Valley (Shelton, Ansonia, Derby, Oxford and Seymour) will have their donations matched by the Valley Community Foundation, up to $100 per donor, per eligible nonprofit, until the match pool of $20,000 is exhausted.

A donor must enter a qualifying Valley address with their credit card information to be counted toward the “Valley Gives Prize.” The eligible zip codes are 06484, 06401, 06418, 06478 and 06483.
