Up to 7 inches possible later today, tonight in Shelton
Shelton can expect 4 to 7 inches of snow on Sunday into Monday morning. Light snow started to fall as early as Sunday morning in many parts of Fairfield County.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Shelton, Fairfield County and all of Connecticut from Sunday morning to 7 a.m. Monday.
"Snow-covered surfaces will cause travel difficulties and hide already icy spots," the NWS said.
Snow heavier in afternoon, night
As of 10:30 a.m. Sunday, it's 23 degrees in Shelton. The snow should get heavier in the late afternoon and continue through the night.
According to NWS, 1 to 2 inches could accumulate in Shelton during the day, with the potential for another 3 to 5 inches during the nighttime.
It appears the storm may be over by peak commuter times Monday morning, but there could be plenty of snow on the ground io complicate matters.
Warmer later in week, more precip
Temperatures will warm up on Monday, and then especially again on Wednesday, when the mid to high 40s are possible in Shelton, the NWS said.
Monday will begin as cloudy and gradually get sunnier. The daytime high will be 36 degrees.
The NWS said mixed precipitation is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday, including snow and rain in Shelton.
