https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gQkjfKl61Jw With the FCIAC winter season completed, Rob Adams and Donald Eng are back in the studio for Nutmeg Sports. To open the week, the guys play the highlights of the Greenwich Cardinals' win over the St. Joseph Cadets in Saturday's FCIAC boys ice hockey championship. After that, highlights of Darien and ETB in the girls state hockey championship appear. Darien won that game, 2-1, a year after the famous tie between ETB and Simsbury. The topic of girls hockey made for a perfect segue into the in-studio guest. Anya Battaglino is a defenseman for the Connecticut Whale of the National Women's Hockey League. Anya chats with Don and Rob about the NWHL and what her path was to become a professional women's hockey player. Although she was injured for much of the season, Anya was able to play in the playoffs against the Buffalo Beauts. The Whale lost to the Beauts in that playoff series on Sunday, but Anya still came in to talk with the guys. Anya is clearly an advocate for women's hockey, and the notion that female athletes are simply athletes, regardless of gender. Rob and Don also take a look at the busy state playoff schedule that is getting underway this week. The whole season will be over in less than two weeks, and it will be time to talk about spring sports. Of course, since it's Monday, it's also time to name the athletes of the week for last week, and well as naming the nominees for this week.
