SHELTON \u2014 A Naugatuck motorcyclist was seriously injured Monday night after state police said he rear-ended an SUV on Route 8. The crash occurred around 8:20 p.m. in the southbound lanes about a quarter-mile north of Exit 12, state police said. Troopers said the bike, a 2001 Honda CBR900RR, was traveling in the right lane directly behind a driver in a 2018 Toyota RAV4, when it \u201ccollided with the rear of\u201d the SUV. The rider was thrown from the bike following the crash, state police said in an accident information summary released Tuesday morning. Both the motorcycle and the SUV came to rest in the right shoulder. The rider, a 28-year-old man from Naugatuck, was taken to St. Vincent\u2019s Hospital by Echo Hose EMS with serious injuries, state police said. The driver of the SUV, a 50-year-old woman from Bethlehem, was also hospitalized for what state police said were suspected minor injuries. The crash investigation closed the southbound side of Route 8 between exits 12 and 13 Monday evening, state police said. The collision remains under investigation.
