Cardiac Specialists achieves national recognition for heart, stroke care
Fairfield-based Cardiac Specialists, one of the largest cardiology practices in southwest Connecticut, with other offices in Danbury, Derby, Milford, Ridgefield, Shelton and Trumbull, has achieved recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for using evidence-based measures to provide excellent care to patients with cardiovascular disease or who have had a stroke.
“Recognition through NCQA’s Heart Stroke Recognition Program (HSRP) affirms the high-quality patient care that our physicians and staff have always been committed to providing,” said Dr. Steven H. Kunkes, one of Cardiac Specialists’ senior cardiologists.
The Heart Stroke Recognition Program assesses key quality performance measures that are based on national evidence based guidelines for secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease and stroke.
Program measures include blood pressure and cholesterol control, complete lipid profiles (series of blood tests to determine disease risks), use of aspirin and other antithrombotic medications and smoking status and cessation advice or treatment.
“At a time when national scrutiny of medical quality is at an all-time high, our patients can be reassured that Cardiac Specialists is dedicated to providing the very best care for the prevention and treatment of heart disease and stroke,” cardiologist Dr. Robert Moskowitz said.
Cardiac Specialists is affiliated with Bridgeport Hospital and Northeast Medical Group, both of which are part of Yale New Haven Health System. For more information, visit cardiacspecialists.com.
