New hula hoop shop in Shelton has community celebration
An educational hula hoop business is opening a retail location, called Hoopla Shop, at 415 Howe Ave., Suite 191, in downtown Shelton.
An official ribbon-cutting will take place Thursday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. A celebration from 5:30-8 p.m. will include hoop performances, mini-hoop workshops, giveaways, special offers, and light refreshments.
Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce officials will be present for the event.
The shop is being opened by Nicole Heriot-Mikula, owner of the education business called bringtheHoopla LLC. The company custom designs and hand-makes hoops.
Fun and fitness
According to publicity material, the business “brings the fun back into fitness” through enrichment and after-school programming, birthday parties, children's hoop classes and adult fitness classes.
Grand opening celebration activities will include face painting with CrazyFunFace Painting and Body Art; drum circle with Circles of Love; free Italian Ice from Addeo's Italian Ice; free massages with Tricia Chitwood LMT; Tom Weber children's music; Sarotonin Flow Performance Art; Sacred Mystery Arts; Jessica Smalley Photographs Everything.
In addition, the Glass Source will offer an open studio slump-vase workshop from 5-8 p.m. for $35 to create a glass vase.
Regular community events
At the retail location, bringtheHoopla LLC plans to have monthly community events and ladies nights as well as make-your-own-hoop parties.
Business hours will be Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., by appointment or when scheduled events occur.
