High school students from Shelton will be among those attending the Housatonic Community College (HCC) manufacturing expo on Friday, May 9.

The Manufacture Your Future Expo, designed to introduce students to manufacturing as a career, will feature some 30 firms and equipment manufacturers exhibiting the latest in automated manufacturing equipment and processes.

About 400 students from nearby high schools are expected to be at the event at HCC’s downtown Bridgeport campus to learn about careers in the state-of-the-art manufacturing field.

The students will be given a tour of HCC’s new Regional Advanced Manufacturing Center, where they will witness the education and training facility in action.

In addition to Shelton, the students will come from Bridgeport, Fairfield, Milford, Norwalk, Oxford, Monroe and Stratford. The event will be held from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Beacon Hall events center at the college, 900 Lafayette Blvd., Bridgeport.
