Who is that man in orange and why is he in Shelton?

Above, Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce President Bill Purcell, far left, and Mayor Mark Lauretti, second from right, join OrangeTheory Fitness owners and staff during the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new business at 704 Bridgeport Ave., Suite 201, Shelton.

OrangeTheory Fitness is a boutique fitness facility that uses exercise and science to help people reach their physical peak.

“We help people target fitness goals and give them the ability to achieve them,” said manager Taylor Scranton.

Owners Oswaldo and Carola Armitano originally are from Venezuela and Miami, and now live in Shelton. Oswaldo Armitano said Shelton offers a lot of potential for the franchise establishment, with its large corporate community and growing population.

Lauretti said Shelton has an economic environment “where businesses want to be.”

The mayor also noted the word “orange” is a plus with him, being part of the color scheme for both Shelton High School and his college alma mater, Syracuse University. “I am all orange,” he said at the grand opening on Friday evening.

Purcell said OrangeTheory Fitness will offer a great place for people employed in nearby offices “to take a break from work with a workout.”

The Shelton facility will have a manager, five workout coaches, and six sales representatives. It is located in the Center at Split Rock shopping complex.
