Guy Beardsley, left, holds a city proclamation given to him by Board of Aldermen President John Anglace that thanks Beardsley for overseeing the Shelton Farmers Market for the past 22 years.

The “Certificate of Appreciation” proclamation from Mayor Mark Lauretti noted Beardsley, who started the market in 1993, has “earned the respect of the city for his faithful service.”

Beardsley, a White Hills farmer and military veteran, stepped down as the volunteer market master earlier this year. The Shelton Farmers Market, now under the leadership of Stacia Monahan, another White Hills farmer, should open for the season in early June.
