At Center Stage: All ages and talents wanted for upcoming auditions

Auditions are coming for two productions at Center Stage Theatre — Barefoot in the Park and Broadway Show Stoppers. They will be Saturday, Aug. 11, 10-1 p.m.

The Teen Musical Theatre Workshop will put on Broadway Show Stoppers. High school students from any community are eligible for this show, and should be prepared to sing a song and participate in a dance audition. Experienced and inexperienced adults are eligible for Barefoot in the Park. Candidates will be asked to read from the script.

Now in its eighth year, Center Stage's Teen Musical Theatre Workshop features students from area high schools. Broadway Show Stoppers will include songs from classic and contemporary musicals. The production will be directed by Gina and Mia Scarpa.

The other production, Barefoot in the Park, will be directed by Gary Scarpa. It tells the story of Paul and Corie Bratter who are newlyweds in every sense of the word. He's a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she's a free spirit always looking for the latest kick. Barefoot in the Park opened on Broadway in 1963 and ran for more performances on Broadway than any play ever written by Neil Simon. Following its success on Broadway, the 1967 hit film followed starring Robert Redford and Jane Fonda.

Center Stage Theatre is a non-profit organization, founded in 2005 by Gary and Francesca Scarpa. The theater presents a full season of five productions. The theater is located at 54 Grove Street.
