Blizzard Transportation (UPDATE)

Travel is being brought to a stop by a blizzard that could dump as much as two feet on the New York City area.

Travel in New York City and downstate is banned as of 2:30.

In Connecticut, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy urged residents to stay off the roads.

"Particularly along the shoreline, if you do not need to travel, please stay off the roads as storm moves in and conditions deteriorate," Malloy said.

At 4 p.m., Metro North will begin shut down entirely. The stoppage also includes LIRR and above ground New York City Subway service.

Broadway shows have shut down for the evening.

CT Transit, including Coastal Link and Greater Bridgeport Transit bus service, was suspended at 12:50 p.m.
