Board members named at Pop Warner

Shelton Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading has elected its 2013 executive board. New officers for 2013 include Mike Boyce as president, Amy Stanko as vice president of spirit, Jennifer Hunter as treasurer, and Christina Solano as secretary. Matt Civale returns as vice president of football.

After spending two years as president of the association, Tim Monteleone decided not to run for a third term in 2013. “I will remain an active member of the board of directors, said Monteleone. “After nine wonderful years at Shelton Pop Warner, I knew we finally had the leadership in place to allow me to make this change,” Monteleone said. “The association is in great hands and I look forward to working with the newly named executive board.”

“Tim has done so much for this association over his long tenure,” said Mike Boyce, the new president. His commitment to both football and cheerleading will leave a lasting impression on everyone down here. While Tim’s role will be reduced, I will continue to look to him and his experience through this transition.”

Last year Boyce was vice president of cheerleading.

“We just returned from Disney after two of our squads qualified for the Pop Warner National Cheerleading Championships,” said Boyce. “Pop Warner does such an amazing job for the kids. I am thrilled to be a part of this league.”

Matt Civale returns as vice president of football. “We are looking forward to another great year,” said Civale. “There will be some exciting announcements coming out shortly that will allow us to grow the program for years to come.”

Amy Stanko will fill the role of vice president of spirit after heading up fund raising and sponsorships as a member of the board of directors this past season. “We have expanded to include dance in our spirit program for 2013,” said Stanko.

Jennifer Hunter, head coach of the Mitey Mite Cheerleaders, will take over as treasurer, while Christina Solano will be the association’s new secretary in 2013. Erin Candler and Jody Bednarz, both longtime board members and coaches, filled these roles previously.

Directors and coaches for football and spirit will be named soon.
