The following candidates are running for a spot on the city\u2019s Library board: James E Geissler (R) Jim has been a life-long Shelton resident and has been married to Nancy Cook Geissler for 43 years. He became a member of the Library Board in 2012 to fill a seat when a Board member moved from Shelton and has served as its Chairman since 2016. At the present time, Jim and the Library Board are working with the City of Shelton\u2019s administration to have an elevator installed and are making plans to refurbish areas of the library. A graduate of Sacred Heart University with a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Psychology, Jim retired from the Shelton Board of Education after 22 years where he worked in Truancy Outreach. He previously was employed for 10 years by Area Cooperative Services as a counselor and presently works part-time with the Shelton Youth Bureau directing the Juvenile Review Board. Jim\u2019s community service also includes 10 years with the Parent-Child Resource Center. A \u00a0member of St. Joseph Parish, he served on its Parish Council for eight years and as its Chairman for three years. A 20-year member of the Visiting Nurse Service\u2019s Partners-in- Care Board of Directors, he is presently serving as its Board Chairman. Lou Dagostine (D) Louis J. Dagostine is a fourth generation resident of Shelton. \u00a0He is a proud 1992 graduate of Shelton High School and is the oldest son of two retired Shelton educators. \u00a0He lives in Shelton with his wife and two children. Louis graduated from Colby College and Hofstra University School of Law. \u00a0He currently practices law at Ciulla & Donofrio, LLP in North Haven and has previously been recognized as a "Rising Star" by Connecticut and New England Super Lawyers for several years. \u00a0\u00a0 Giving back to the community is very important to Louis. \u00a0\u00a0From 2013 to present, he has served as an elected member of Shelton\u2019s Board of Apportionment & Taxation. \u00a0Louis serves on the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley and is Chairman of its Legal and Insurance Committee. \u00a0He is also the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce. \u00a0Louis is a current Corporator at the Valley United Way.
