Center Stage Theatre has a busy spring in store as it brings its 11th season to an end. The Shelton theatre is currently producing "Over the River and through the Woods," which runs through April 24. Performances are at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays with a 7 p.m. show on April 21. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students.
This Off-Broadway, comic-drama introduces the audience to a tight-knit, Italian-American family who share Sunday dinners in New Jersey. When the grandson of Frank and Aida Gianelli and Nunzio and Emma Cristano announces he’s leaving Hoboken and moving to Seattle to accept a promotion, he sends both sets of grandparents into a tailspin — and they pull out all the stops to convince him to stay. This heartwarming comic story of love and family reminds us that the important life lessons come to us from the most important people in our lives. The production features Shelton High School and Western Connecticut State University graduate, Kyle Attanasio, as well as two Shelton teachers, Rosemary Pagliaro and Erica McNeil.
Scarpa said that following this production, Center Stage will host "Festa Italiano" on May 13 and 14 at 8 p.m. and May 15 at 2 p.m. with Marc Garofalo. Admission is $15. "It will be night of great Italian music and stories, and it's a cabaret event so people can bring their own refreshments," said Scarpa
