Christmas celebrations with Shelton libraries to kick off the season

Family Frosty Saturday is Dec. 6, sponsored by the Shelton libraries and the Friends of the Shelton Libraries.

The purpose of the day, organizers is to brighten someone else’s season in this SONshine (Sharing with Our Neighbors).

Bring a donation for a local charity (canned goods for Valley Food Bank, baby wipes or mittens for Team’s diaper bank or an unwrapped toy for Team’s Toys for Kids) to the following events that day:

From 10 a.m.-3 p.m., there will be the Friends’ holiday market with nearly new children’s books plus craft and cookbooks, proceeds benefit Shelton’s public libraries.

At the same time, there will be a Make One, Take One Workshop where kids of all ages create ornaments to hang outside on the community tree in Veterans Memorial Park. All materials provided, families who cannot hang their own ornament may leave them for others to hang at the tree lighting.

At 1 p.m. the Valley Shakespeare Festival will stage A Christmas Carol inside Plumb Memorial Library. Performance is free, but donations will be accepted.

At 3:30 p.m., a pizza and a movie will be offered. Families are welcome to share pizza provided by the Friends while watching the new animated adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s Snow Queen with Olaf the snowman and his friends. SONshine donation requested. Drop in.
