Progress continues on the Shelton Cove housing development at 550 River Road (Route 110). The project is being built by Toll Brothers, a well-known developer of upscale homes, on a 12.4 acre parcel along the Housatonic River. (Photos by Brad Durrell)

Construction began last fall, and so far has mostly involved clearing the land and putting in infrastructure, including a bridge over a small waterway. The frame of the model home structure now is being finalized, and is expected to open in the late spring.

The development will have 36 townhouses within 14 structures. It will include two- and three-bedroom units that originally were expected to sell in the $390,000 to $525,000 range.

There will be five building designs: Bradbury, Lehman, Lenox, Portman and Sinclair. The townhouses will be split level, with one of the three stories only being visible from either the front or back, depending on the specific design.

The color motif will have browns, beiges and white.

The roads in Shelton Cove will be private, but it will not be a gated community.

Publicity material by Tolls Brothers describes Shelton Cove as “a luxury waterfront community” with “spectacular views of the Housatonic River” that will enable residents to “enjoy recreational activities along the river.”
