Alexandra DeFrancesco had eight inches of her hair cut to send to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, which partners with the American Cancer Society to give free wigs to Cancer patients. DeFrancesco grew her hair and had it cut in honor of her late grandmother and Shelton resident, Margaret Dlugos.
Dlugos lost her battle with cancer in November. The Hair After salon, where Dlugos was a long-time customer cut DeFrancesco’s hair. Patti Urbano, owner of the Hair After, said she has many fond memories of Dlugos, or Marge, as they called her. Kathee Ahearn, senior stylist cut and styled Alexandra's hair. She had also been Dlugo’s stylist.
