Afternoon Knitters — Wednesdays, Aug. 7 and 14, 1 p.m. Local knitters, new members welcome; meets in main floor reading room for the summer.

Airborne Jugglers — Wednesday, Aug. 7, 1:30 p.m. Children 4 and older are treated to an act, followed by a 30 minute learn-to-juggle workshop. Space is limited, tickets available in the Children’s Room after 1 p.m.

Digging into AlphaBits — Thursdays, Aug. 8 and 15, 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers and caregivers work on learning skills to make them kindergarten ready; drop in session, siblings welcome.

Teens Booked for Lunch — Thursday, Aug. 8, 12:30 p.m. Drop in for a quick lunch and discuss Spooky Girl, Paranormal Investigator by Jill Baguchinsky. Multiple copies of titles available in the Teen Room; lunch provided.

Valley 2-D Art — Thursday, Aug. 8, 5 p.m. Local artists and crafters gather to share open space and ideas, support and comments, new members welcome.

Murder Mystery Meeting — Thursday, Aug. 8, 6:30 p.m. Cast meeting of the upcoming FOTSL dinner theater mystery, potential and interested actors welcome. Tickets go on sale soon for the September event.

CT Paranormal Research — Thursday, Aug. 8, 7 p.m. Seats reserved for teens 13-19, adults if space allows. Call 203-924-1580 to make a reservation.

Stay & Play — Fridays, Aug. 9 and 16, 10:30 a.m. Open play dates for preschoolers and caregivers; chat over coffee or tea, juice provided, bring a snack and a friend.

Horror Movie Marathon — Saturday, Aug. 10, 10 a.m. Twelve hours of horror films across the decades for teens 13 – 19. Refreshments; bring snacks if you choose. Library only open to teens.

knit! — Tuesdays, Aug. 13 and 20, 6 p.m. Knitters meet to share and support.

Bubble Trouble — Wednesday, Aug. 14, 6 p.m. Jeff Boyer’s one man bubble extravaganza for kids 4 and older; space is limited, tickets available in the Children’s Room after 5 p.m. the day of the event.

Alter Ego — Thursday, Aug. 15, 2 p.m. Teens 13–19 don disguises featuring face painting by local teen Samantha Lewis.

It’s a Party! — Thursday, Aug. 15, 6:30 p.m. the Adult Summer Reading Club at both Shelton libraries draws to an end for another year with refreshments, door prizes and gift certificates from local businesses. Special tastings from Dana Joy, maker of quiches and author of Dana’s Famous Quiche Cookbook. There is still time to enter - 1-2-3:  read a book, write a quick survey form, drop it into the big tub and be entered in a drawing for prizes; sponsored by the Friends of the Shelton Libraries.

Kids in the Kitchen — Tuesday, Aug. 20, 6 p.m.  Home-made ice cream. Kids 3 and older bring clean winter gloves for the icy part of this annual food project, dress for mess, be aware of possible allergies; adults help with prep work.

Bon Voyage Summer — Wednesday, Aug. 21, 6 p.m. All children who took part in the Kids Summer Reading Club are welcome to build ice cream sundaes and be entertained by local magician Brian Lizotte. Special prize drawings for kids who meet the 8 book challenge, there is still time to finish.

Teen Masquerade of Horror — Friday, Aug. 23, 8 p.m. to midnight. Teens who have read and reported on at least 3 books are invited to attend this Masquerade Ball. This invitation-only event celebrates fun, fear and food. For teens 13-19 who have completed the Summer Reading program at either library branch.

Home Delivery — Shelton residents who cannot get to the library due to temporary or permanent disability are welcome to apply for home delivery of library materials. Contact the branch at 203-926-0111. A project underwritten with support from the Friends of the Library and the Valley Community Foundation.
