Bending Gravity — Wednesday, July 2, 1:30 p.m. Eric Girardi amazes kids 3-12 and caregivers with tricks that defy the laws of science in this free program. Space is limited, no advance registration, free tickets available beginning at 1 p.m.

Kids Summer Reading Club — This year’s summer reading program begins. Children register to be a reader, their goal is 8 books by the end of the program Aug.15. Teens will be available to listen to reports, but children pre-k through grade 6 can also submit written reports on the books they are logging. Every two books reported on earns a reward. In addition library items charged out by or for children earn tickets to prizes each week, drawings are every Monday.

AlphaBits — Thursdays, July 3 and 10, 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers and caregivers work on learning skills to make them kindergarten ready; drop in session, siblings welcome.

1-2-3 ASRP weekly drawing — Monday, July 7, Adult Summer Reading Program begins and it is as easy as 1-2-3: read a book, fill in a short form and drop the entry in a bucket — at either Plumb or Huntington. Each week two names are pulled, one at each library, for a gift card or certificate to a local business. Pick up some entry forms. The mini reviews are posted each week, so look for some new authors you might enjoy discovering; sponsored by the Friends of the Shelton Libraries.

Fun for Little Ones — Tuesdays, July 8 and July 15, 10 a.m. Mrs. Fritsch offers stories, songs, and movement for babies and toddlers up to age 2 in this themed drop in program; siblings welcome.

Creative Kids — Tuesdays, July 8 and 15, 2 p.m. Drop in with Miss Maura for all that is art as kids 1-12 create one-of-a-kind art pieces while exploring a variety of media.

Teen Boost! — Tuesdays, July 8 and 15, 4 p.m. Teens 13-19 spend two hours of exploring arts, books and more - drop in and see what is on the schedule. Free programs, bring a friend.

knit! — Tuesdays, July 8 and 15, 6 p.m. Adult fiber fans meet to knit and crochet and chat, lots of support and fellowship in this drop in group, stop in and bring a friend.

Beardsley Zoo Wild Assembly — Wednesday, July 9, 1:30 p.m. Meet some wild animals face to face when Beardsley Zoo visits; free tickets available starting at 1 p.m. (half hour before program starts).

Kids in the Kitchen — Wednesday, July 9, 6 p.m. Kids 5 and up explore cuisine from around the world; adults expect to help out, too. Dress for mess.

Raising Readers — Thursdays, July 10 and 17, 10:30 a.m. Adults interested in assisting their pre-school children improve their reading and interest in books are welcome for this limited edition program. Jane Bailey offers pointers and perks while pre-schoolers are engrossed by Miss Maura. Registration is required; 10 slots open.

Dementia Caregivers Support Group — Thursday, July 10, 11 a.m. New support group for individuals caring for loved ones living with dementia. Bring along a lunch or snack and take a break with others sharing similar situations. A special welcome to Portuguese and Spanish speakers — the language will be accommodated by group facilitator Lidia from Benchmark at Split Rock. If you cannot make this meeting, the group returns on the second Thursday of each month.

Stay & Play — Friday, July 11, 10:30 a.m. Open play dates for preschoolers and caregivers; chat over coffee or tea, juice provided, bring a snack and a friend.

TAB — Friday, June 27, 3 p.m.  Teen Advisory Board meets to discuss teen oriented library programs, collections and activities over snacks; drop in.

Budding Bookworms — Mondays, June 30, 10:30 a.m. Pre-K story time: drop in for music, crafts and more for children 1-5 years.

Family Fun Friday — LEGOS! Friday, July 11, 1 p.m. Drop in for some constructive fun, this month’s building challenge is “Summer.” For kids of all ages and caregivers.

Work Out: Fencing — Friday, July 11, 1:30 p.m. Guest instructor shares pointers on the art and sport of fencing. Look for the teens (13-19) at the Riverwalk for this free one hour workshop.

Teen Movie Critics — Friday, July 11, 3:30 p.m. Teens 13-19 watch a film over snacks and share opinions in this free program; drop in and bring a friend.

Rubber Ducky Reading Club — This summer reading club for babies up to pre-schoolers is a family reading program. No meetings, no reporting — caregivers just complete the activities.
