Afternoon Knitters — Wednesday, July 10, 1 p.m. Local knitters, new members welcome; meets in main floor reading room for the summer.
Horizon Wings — Wednesday, July 10, 1:30 p.m. Horizon Wings Raptor Rehab visits with kids 4 and older, sharing stories of survival of the eagle, hawk, falcon and owl residing at their facility; Beamer the Eastern box turtle visits, too. Space is limited. Tickets in the children’s room after 1 p.m. the day of the show.
end July 25Digging into AlphaBits — Thursdays, July 11 and 18, 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers and caregivers work on learning skills to make them kindergarten ready; drop in session, siblings welcome.
Teen Book Club — Thursday, July 11, 12:30 p.m. Drop in for a quick lunch and discuss Maggot Moon, by Sally Gardner; for teens 13-19 (qualifies as one of SHS required books); multiple copies available in the Teen Room.
Teen Masks — Thursday, July 11, 2 p.m. Session one for designing a highlighting touch for masquerade costumes (even if you are not attending the August ball). Supplies provided or bring your own, plan on mess — working with plaster, paint, glue. Drop in, free program for teens 13-19.
Valley 2-D Art — Thursday, July 11, 5 p.m. Local artists and crafters share space and critiques in this free workshop.
Stay & Play — Fridays, July 12 and 19, 10:30 a.m. Open play dates for preschoolers and caregivers; chat over coffee or tea, juice provided, bring a snack and a friend.
Mad Hatter’s Tea Party — Tuesday, July 16, 1:30 p.m. Kids 4-9 join Ms. Kathi for Wonderland Bingo! in a tea party setting; wear something silly to get in the spirit.
knit! — Tuesdays, July 16 and 23, 6 p.m. Knitters meet to share and support.
Kids in the Kitchen — Tuesday, July 16, 6 p.m. Personalized pizzas are on the menu as kids 3 and older learn basic kitchen skills, then practice them making edible projects. Dress for mess, be aware of possible allergies; adults help with prep work.
Castles & Dragons — Wednesday, July 17, 1:30 p.m. Kim Larkin brings the world of fantasy as kids 4 and older create castles. All supplies and tools provided, but dress for mess; space is limited, tickets available in Children’s Room after 1 p.m. the day of the program.
4/6 READ! — Wednesday, July 17, 6:30 p.m. Book discussion over snacks for kids entering fourth through sixth grades; copies of books available at registration, bring a friend.
Summer Saturday Closings — Plumb Library closed on Saturdays until after Labor Day. The branch remains open Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through the end of July.
On display – glass and ceramic pole insulator collection from Max Dymerski, a nine year old student at Elizabeth Shelton School; fly fishing antiques and collectibles from a Shelton native and fishing enthusiast; American pottery: Roseville, McCoy – real thing or lookalikes?
Home Delivery — Shelton residents who cannot get to the library due to temporary or permanent disability are welcome to apply for home delivery of library materials.
