Events on tap at community farm

Here are some events coming up at Massaro Community Farm in Woodbridge:

Open Farm Days


Special days every other Tuesday and Friday, 3-5 p.m. Drop in sessions in the farm's Learning Garden, suited for young children to explore, plant, water and taste what's coming out of the garden. Water and sunscreen suggested. All other tools and materials provided. Volunteers also welcome.

Pig roast


Harvest for the Hungry and Pig Roast:  Thursday, July 16, 5-8 p.m. Help harvest produce for the farm's hunger relief partners, contributing to the thousands of pounds of produce we donate to local hunger relief agencies throughout the season, and enjoy a fabulous meal at the farm.
Roast pork served on rolls with a choice of sauce, fresh salads made with farm produce, strawberry and honey vanilla ice cream and drinks. Music provided by The Asberry Boys of West Haven. If you've been waiting for a family friendly version of our annual Dinner on the Farm farm-to-table, this is it.
Advance tickets $45/Adults; $15/youth. After July 9, $50/Adults; $20/youth. Tickets may be purchased through the farm's website or at Brown Paper Tickets .

Summer camp


Now Enrolling for Summer Camp at the Farm: Weeks of Aug. 3, Aug. 10 and Aug. 17. Ages 6-12. This half day camp at the farm engages campers in exploring the farm's nature trail, planting and harvesting in the Learning Garden, understanding local farming, biodiversity, insects, butterflies, composting and more. Healthy snacks included.
Groups are small to enhance the camp experience. Instructors are CPR certified.

Movie


Friday, Aug. 21, 8 p.m. : Movie on the Lawn-Field of Dreams. Enjoy this classic film outdoors on the lawn behind the farmhouse. Lemonade and popcorn provided. Bring low lawn chairs or blankets. Donations welcome.

Bees!


Beekeeping Part IV: Fall Hive Prep — Saturday Aug. 15, 9 a.m. and again at 11 a.m.:  sign up for one of these popular sessions on backyard beekeeping. Taught by members of CT Beekeeper's Association and organic producers of local honey. All levels of interest welcome. Choose from either 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. sessions. Space is limited to 20 participants. Suggested donation at the door, $10 per person.

Farm to table


Dinner on the Farm farm to table dinner and silent auction, Sunday, Sept. 6, 5-9 p.m., and Family Fun Day, Saturday, Oct. 3, 1-5 p.m.
