The 15-piece Little Big Band, specializing in swing music, performed Thursday evening in this summer’s last Music Under the Stars concert on the Huntington Green in Shelton.
The final outdoor concert had been rescheduled from Wednesday due to the threat of inclement weather on that night.
Above, members of the band — who mostly come from eastern Connecticut — perform a Count Basie tune for the crowd. The group specializes in swing and Big Band music, with some old-time rock ‘n’ roll, jazz, and rhythm and blues mixed in as well.
‘This is my kind of music’
Families with young children to seniors were in attendance, with many older folks dropping by to hear the music of their youth.
“This is my kind of music,” said Gordon Lewis of Shelton. He and his wife of 50 years, Julie, were sitting in lawn chairs enjoying the musical entertainment.
“It’s from our era,” Julie Lewis said.
The weekly summer concert series is sponsored by the Shelton Parks and Recreation Department, with the support of private sponsors. The first show this season was on June 26.
