HAVE A BREW WITH BUD: Former N.Y. Met to attend local charity event
Former New York Met player and manager Bud Harrelson will be a guest at the “FeBREWary event” with the Bridgeport Bluefish baseball team at a local brewery to support the nonprofit CT Challenge.
The charity fund-raiser will take place Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 6-8 p.m. at Two Roads Brewing Company, 1700 Stratford Ave., Stratford.
“We are very pleased to announce that Gold Glove Award-winner and two-time World Series champion Bud Harrelson will be the special guest at our ‘FeBREWary’ event,” said Ken Shepard, Bluefish general manager.
“This will be a great opportunity for baseball fans to meet a two-time Major League All Star and chat with him about playing and managing in the major leagues,” Shepard said.
Harrelson is a co-owner of the Long Island Ducks, a team that competes with the Bluefish in the Atlantic League. During his career with the Mets, he was a player, coach and then team manager for two seasons.
Funding cancer survivorship programs
The CT Challenge empowers cancer survivors to live healthier, happier, and longer lives by creating and funding survivorship programs and offering related resources.
The Bluefish play their home games at Harbor Yard Ballpark in downtown Bridgeport. The teams will begin the 2014 season on April 25. Find out more at BridgeportBluefish.com.
