Hear retro rock, pop and soul tunes in Shelton
A band specializing in retro rock, pop and soul tunes will perform tonight, July 24, on the Huntington Green.
The Glamour Girls concert will begin at 7 p.m. The two-hour Wednesday evening show is free and open to the public, who are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnics to the Green. Food trucks and nearby food establishments also will be available.
The outdoor concert is part of the weekly Music Under the Stars series by the Shelton Parks and Recreation Department.
Dance hits from the ’40s to ’90s
The Glamour Girls, fronted by female singers Ginger, Racquel and Vanessa, perform popular dance hits from the 1940s to the ’90s.
The group play songs representing the swing, sock hop, Motown, soul, disco, pop and rock styles. This includes by performers such at the Andrews Sisters, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, Sister Sledge, Gloria Gaynor, Madonna, The B-52s, and The Bangles and others.
Have performed at casinos and state fair
The Glamour Girls have entertained at many concert venues and private functions in the Northeast, including for Make-a-Wish Foundation, Channel 3 Kids Camp, Mohegan Sun Casino, Foxwoods Resort Casino, Caesar's Resorts, Saratoga Raceway and Casino, New York State Fair, National Basketball Hall of Fame, and Hartford Hospital.
The Glamour Girls have shared the stage with Little Anthony and the Imperials, and Bill Haley's Comets, according to publicity material.

Remaining shows in series
The 2013 Music Under the Stars concert series is presented by the Shelton Parks and Recreation Department, with the support of private sponsors.
The performances are each Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. Concerts are free and take place on the Huntington Green. People are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic food.
