Hudler visits Nicaragua to teach children English

Haley Hudler of Shelton, a freshman majoring in Religion, was part of a group from Heidelberg University who traveled to Nicaragua in January as part of a service trip to teach English literacy skills to underprivileged children there.

In all, 15 Heidelberg students, three faculty members and an alumnus traveled to Jinotega, Nicaragua Jan. 13-19 as part of the university's Alternative Spring Break program. The group worked with Outreach 360, an organization that focuses on English education, literacy and community issues.

During their week in Jinotega, the Heidelberg team planned creative ways to help the 7- to 12-year-old children learn English and ultimately open up new opportunities for them in the future.
