Local Literacy Volunteers has a new executive director

Donna Violante was named  the new executive director of the Literacy Volunteers of Greater New Haven, which serves Shelton and the Valley. In the position, Violante will be responsible for all operations in greater New Haven, the Valley, Meriden and Wallingford.

Before joining Literacy Volunteers, she oversaw the annual workplace giving campaign for all federal employees in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts as a director at Community Health Charities.

She previously had more than 30 years experience in marketing, customer service, sales operations and training with AT&T.

Violante also has been involved with many community organizations, such as Domestic Violence Services of Greater New Haven, BHCare, New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, and Housatonic Girl Scout Council.

Literacy Volunteers is a nonprofit educational organization that recruits, trains and supports volunteer tutors.
